Downstream coronary effects of drug-eluting stents.
BACKGROUND Antiproliferative agents used in drug-eluting stents (DES) attenuate atherosclerosis, yet DES implantation has been linked to endothelial dysfunction. The downstream effects of DES on new lesion formation have not been previously directly examined. We sought to compare the development of de novo stenoses and need for treatment in the downstream coronary vessel of patients treated wit...

Blood-stage malarial parasites (Plasmodium falciparum) digest large quantities of host haemoglobin during their asexual development in erythrocytes. The haemoglobin digestion pathway, involving a succession of cleavages by various peptidases, appears to be essential for parasite development and has received much attention as an antimalarial drug target. A variety of peptidase inhibitors that ha...

We contend that the splintering of combatant groups, a primary manifestation of rebel group fragmentation, produces potential spoiler groups that are neither incidental nor unimportant in the process of civil war resolution. Making connections to the spoil...

We demonstrate that an increase in the buyer power of the large retailer against its supplier leads to a fall in retail price an...
